Between 20 and 25 May 2025, we invite you to the popular science event – Copernicus Festival, which brings together the worlds of science and culture since 2014. What is behind the dark energy that expands the universe? How does our brain vs. artificial intelligence learn? Do chimpanzees have their own language and consciousness? What can we read today from DNA from thousands of years ago?
These and many other questions will be answered by guests of Copernicus Festival: Mystery. Among them are:
- Stanislas Dehaene (Collège de France) – world-renowned neuroscientist, author of discoveries about the brain and learning,
- Terry Sejnowski (Salk Institute) – pioneer of artificial intelligence and co-inventor of the so-called Boltzmann machine,
- Zuzana Hofmanová (Max Planck Institute) – specialist in archeogenetics and the history of human DNA,
- Ruth Durrer (University of Geneva) – physicist who studies dark energy in the universe,
- Klaus Zuberbühler (University of St Andrews) – a researcher on monkey languages and the evolution of consciousness.
All events are free and open to the public – both in-studio and online. This is a unique opportunity to attend meetings with scientists whose work shapes our knowledge of the world.
Copernicus Festival is organized by Jagiellonian University, the Copernicus Center Foundation, “Tygodnik Powszechny” and the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation, with support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the City of Krakow.
