Misteria Paschalia

The festival is the perfect opportunity for making musical discoveries and hearing brand-new interpretations of classical music prepared through extensive studies and reconstruction. Bach, Buxtehude, Purcell, Vivaldi, Pergolesi – we listen to some of the most fascinating masterpieces composed between the Middle Ages and the18th century performed by world-renowned ensembles and soloists.

One of the most important early music festivals in Europe, Misteria Paschalia is held every year during Holy Week. Each edition is dedicated to a selected European cultural phenomenon, with the programme prepared by a different guest artist each year: so far, Kraków has been visited by Vincent Dumestre, John Butt and Antonio Florio.

The programme recalls Christian sources of European spirituality and traditions. The festival works in collaboration with the French TV channel Mezzo, which brings the concerts to over 60 million viewers in 60 countries!
