The main aim of the Patronage Programme of the Kraków UNESCO City of Literature programme is to support Cracovian literary and publishing circles, including the KUCL Prize . The distinction, launched in 2020 and awarded as funding for publishing projects, is awarded to authors, translators, editors and illustrators whose works recall Kraków’s rich literary heritage.
Between 2020 and 2023 we awarded almost 150 outstanding publishing initiatives popularising Kraków’s heritage and promoting the city’s contemporary literature.
The competition is organised by the Municipality of Kraków and implemented by the KBF, operator of the UNESCO City of Literature programme.
