The festival is an annual celebration of comics, graphic novels, illustrations, animation and all associated fields. Events include meetings with authors and artists from Poland and abroad, lectures, discussions and presentations on a wide range of topics concerning the medium. They are accompanied by cosplay, face painting and the hugely popular comics battles.
A key element of the event is the publishing fair, hosting launches of the latest publications. The festival also features workshops where kids learn to draw their own comics under the guidance of some of Poland’s leading artists, as well as informal screenings of the latest children’s animations from Poland and abroad. As the operator of the UNESCO City of Literature programme, the KBF co-organises the event, ran by the Kraków Comic Book Association.
