Conrad Prize

It’s difficult enough to publish a debut book, and even harder to have it reach a wide audience. Awarded since 2015, the Conrad Prize is Poland’s first and only distinction for literary debut. The authors are assigned a residential programme in Kraków to provide them with a space to work on their next text.

The distinction also encourages publishing houses to take on the risk of releasing books by up-and-coming authors. The Conrad Prize is a part of the municipal debut-supporting programme of the Kraków UNESCO City of Literature programme. The prize is funded and organised by the City of Kraków with support from the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation and KBF.
