This great event is held around midsummer and features traditions of St. John’s Eve – the shortest night of the year. It also coincides with the start of the summer holidays, taking the format of Fête de la Musique and bringing music to all corners of the city. Kraków shows that music knows no boundaries and it cares nothing for gender, race, nationality or views.
Stars and up-and-coming artists, classical, jazz, rock, folk, pop and club sounds and even a silent disco all come together to create Wianki. There is something for everyone at stages scattered all over the city, and all concerts are free.
The festival also includes the competition for the most beautiful garland, recalling traditional customs of the season, and closes with a fireworks display over the Vistula.
