The Harvest Festival is a great celebration of the year’s crops. Participants weave garlands of flowers, herbs, wheat, fruit and vegetables, which are there judged as part of a competition. There are also cycles of workshops and presentations by regional teams. Events open with a ceremonial field mass.
Tables are laden with regional produce and dishes, and exhibitors sell their beautiful fruit, vegetables, cold cuts, cheese and delicious fresh bread at the farmers’ market. There is also singing and dancing, concerts and outdoor film screenings.
The Harvest Festival intertwines culture with nature, traditions with modernity and the countryside with urban life, and brings together generations. The main organiser is the City of Kraków, with events brought to life by individual districts and the KBF.
