How can we bring together maths, natural and social sciences, literature and other arts to create a comprehensive, attractive event? The foundation of the Copernicus Festival is the notion that all these fields serve to extend our understanding of humankind and our surroundings, the boundaries of the universe and limits to human understanding. The festival features concerts, exhibitions, meetings with authors and lectures on subjects from linguistics to astronomy, with guests from all fields from philosophy to physics. Each year’s events are centred around a particular theme, and all elements gain a new dimension among Kraków’s beautiful scenery and venerable museums, cultural institutions, churches and universities. The recipe for this one-of-a-kind event was created by organisers from the Copernicus Centre Foundation, Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation and the Jagiellonian University, with the KBF providing promotional and logistical support as co-organiser.
